Hepatitis and HIV Awareness, Counselling and Free Screening Outreach

Location: Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Aba, Abia State  |  Date: 27 July 2026

The intervention addressed limited awareness, misinformation, stigma and financial barriers to testing among young people in tertiary institutions. More than 138 students received comprehensive health education, confidential counselling and free screening.

Completed Projects

The Bridge Project

June 2025 – May 2026  |  South-East Nigeria (selected communities in Ogun, Oyo and Northern Nigeria)

Addressed barriers preventing underserved populations from accessing timely HIV and Hepatitis information, testing, prevention services and linkage to care. Key results included 696 individuals tested (against a target of 100), 1,279 people reached through education, and 157 referrals facilitated.

Maternal and Child Health, Nutrition, and Disease Prevention Outreach

Community-based interventions focused on maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health, including nutrition education and disease prevention activities that reached 79 mothers and community members.

Menstrual Health Outreach and Adolescent Health Education

Reached 200 girls through menstrual health education and adolescent health programming, promoting dignity, knowledge and healthy practices.

Programmes in Development

Community and Primary Healthcare Strengthening

Expanding access to preventive healthcare, community-based services, referral systems and stronger links between communities and primary healthcare facilities in underserved areas, with priority in Abia State.

Target: Underserved households, women, children, adolescents and youth facing geographic or financial barriers.

Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health

Expanding community-based interventions that address the continuum of maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health needs across underserved communities in Nigeria.
